After ten years of teaching literacy to 8th graders, I found myself at a personal and professional crossroads. During my first maternity leave, baby in my arms, future on my mind, I felt a growing pull toward something more. I loved teaching, but I also wanted to support the adults shaping students’ lives just as deeply as I supported the students themselves.
So, I took a bold step.
I drafted a proposal to our Assistant Superintendent, advocating for a brand-new role: Staff Developer and Instructional Coach. I didn’t have formal training for it, but I did have years of leading workshops, mentoring colleagues, and building strong, trusted relationships. It was a leap of faith. I wasn’t applying for an open job—I was asking the district to create one.
Armed with data, a clear vision, and a reputation for follow-through, I presented my case. And when I returned from maternity leave, I stepped into the newly created position as the district’s Staff Developer.
That one courageous move reshaped the entire direction of my career.
Over the next 20 years, I had the privilege of coaching educators, administrators, and leadership teams—helping them grow with confidence, navigate change, and move toward ambitious goals. Through that work, I honed the ability to guide people through pivotal moments and transitions with clarity, steadiness, and purpose. I became an expert on how adults learn best and differentiated my work to best meet their individual needs.
And somewhere along the way, I discovered a new calling: helping young adults take their own first bold steps into the professional world.
Today, through Bold Step Careers, I support undergrads and new graduates as they explore what’s next, secure internships, pivot when their original plans shift, and land that all-important first job. As a mom of young adults myself, I know how much you want to see your child succeed and how overwhelming these early career years can feel.
Sometimes, all it takes is one bold step in the right direction. And I’m here to help them take it!
My coaching philosophy is rooted in the belief that every student has unique strengths worth uncovering. Through a clear, step-by-step approach, I help undergrads and recent grads gain confidence, strengthen communication skills, and build practical job-search tools. Our work is a true partnership—I provide the framework and guidance, while students take ownership of their growth and momentum.

My family is my greatest inspiration and the reason behind every bold step I take.
